Orforglipron is a prescription medicine. It is not right for everyone: personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2; pregnancy; history of pancreatitis; people who already take another GLP-1 medicine. Tell your doctor about every condition you have and every medicine and supplement you take.
Common side effects are described below. Stop and seek care for any severe or unexpected reaction. This page is education, not medical advice; your doctor and pharmacist give the instructions for your treatment.

Orforglipron, explained by our clinical team
What it is
Orforglipron is not a peptide. It is a small molecule designed to switch on the GLP-1 receptor the same way the injectable medicines do, but it survives digestion without special timing rules.
That makes it the most convenient GLP-1 option so far: one tablet, any time, no fasting window, no refrigeration. It is new, so our doctors review the prescribing information carefully with every patient.
FDA-approved uses
- Chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight with at least one weight-related condition, alongside diet and exercise
Our doctors prescribe for approved uses. Any other use is a decision made only by your doctor, for you, after evaluation.
How it is taken
One tablet once a day, with or without food. Treatment starts at a low dose and is raised every four weeks or so as tolerated.
What to expect
Reduced appetite and earlier fullness are the main effects. Nausea, vomiting, constipation and diarrhea are common in the first weeks, especially at each dose step.
Who should not take it
- Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2
- Pregnancy
- History of pancreatitis
- People who already take another GLP-1 medicine
